The First Thanksgiving

While the Pilgrims did not call the events in 1621 "Thanksgiving" there is a record of the pilgrims in Plymouth at that time. In addition to the Pilgrims, approximately 92 Native Americans joined the feast. This included Squanto, 90 braves and their cheif, Massasoit.

The date is not known precisely but it is believed to have occured in mid-October 1621. In 1623, after another bountiful harvest the 3rd Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed on November 29, 1623.
